The ‘River Kwai’ Thailand

The jungle may have been cleared now for agricultural purposes, but the journey took us over all the old wooden trestle type structures which hugged the hillside alongside the river. We even passed an old prisoner of war camp which still had the sentry control tower.

We finally disembarked at ‘Wang Po’, had a meal in a local restaurant by prior arrangement. Unfortunately then came the long journey by mini-bus back to Bangkok. As it turned out, it took about four and half hours before we were dropped off at our hotel. But on reflection the whole day was both worthwhile and memorable.
