In the clubhouse Chart Hills Golf Club – Diners Club International event

Health problems forced me to quit, apart from the odd game here and there for about six years but on moving to Reading I decided to start again. I joined the VGS and Golfshake so that I could find likeminded golfers, and this proved successful but rather an expensive way to play, so I decided to join a club again and here I am at “Sherfield Oaks Golf Club” with a handicap of 13, which I can play to on occasion still with the belief that I can at some point in time get back under the magical 80. Everyone is allowed to dream.

I have played in three Golfshake events and also was fortunate enough to be selected for one of Tim Hawkins’ teams which he kindly sponsored to help Dave Knatt in raising money for the Worcester YMCA. This event was held this year at “Ombersley Golf Club” and we ran out winners, beating the first team on count-back. Young Paul Cook played out of his skin and probably shot his best round ever, Wayne, John F and myself managed to play to our handicaps, with John F also winning a year’s supply of chocolate in the raffle.
