As it turned out, I was proved right, because it took twenty six hours to drive from Joannina to Korce, a distance of only one hundred and twenty six kilometres. The whole country is one big mountain, with the roads only just as wide as the trucks and with numerous hairpin bends to negotiate. There was also the problem of little tiny bridges on every hairpin turn, which meant having to get the wheels up onto the edges of the bridge and carefully inch your way across. Sometimes, one or another of the trucks was not able to get round some corners and I had to reverse down the hill, put a chain on them and drag them round. This was because they were not putting enough power down to overcome the drag of a tight hairpin.
